23 Feb Ultrasonic wind sensor on the “most complex” road
LCJ Capteurs’ CV7-V-USB wind vane anemometer is present on the most complex road in the world. Our partner AEMI advises our ultrasonic wind sensor on a construction site on the coast of Reunion Island. Find out what functionalities a wind vane anemometer can have on the design of a coastal structure!
AEMI Marine : a know-how for over 30 years.
AEMI Marine, a company based in Caen (France), has been present in the marine industry for more than 30 years. Specialized in the fields of electronics, electricity and marine computing, AEMI is present with its customers to advise, supply, install and maintain their equipment. Their strength is their versatility, since they work in the service :
- fishing professions (artisanal and industrial),
- shipyard,
- of the merchant navy,
- offshore vessels,
- and bondage vessels.
Ultrasonic wind sensor CV7-V-USB on the most complex road in the world !
Partner since the beginning of LCJ Capteurs, AEMI Marine has been promoting our sonic wind sensors in various shipyards. Having 4 agencies, including 2 in France, 1 in overseas (Reunion Island) and 1 in Mauritius, the company works for well-known dockyards. Indeed, we can find our ultrasonic wind vane anemometer on the road called “the most complex road in the world”. In the north of Reunion Island, this road is 12 km long and includes a 5 km viaduct. Moreover, it has become the economic lung of the island by creating nearly 3000 direct and indirect jobs. Finally, this construction is the solution on the one hand because road traffic has become very dense on the island. On the other hand, the road on the coast is at the foot of a cliff where landslides are frequent and dangerous.
What is the function of the ultrasonic wind vane anemometer on this type of construction site?
Recognised in the marine market, our ultrasonic wind sensors are now more often used on land. Here we are fortunate to have a CV7-V-USB ultrasonic wind vane anemometer which is dedicated to helping in the conception of coastal and marine structures. As said before, we can see that the ultrasonic wind sensor is present on the road under construction on the Reunionese coast. The wind measurements generated by the wind vane anemometer in case of strong wind limits the possible works. The main function is the safety of the works. In particular, the wind information sent to work boats and barges moderates dangerous movements. In fact, from a threshold determined by specialists, it is not advisable to continue the work. Moreover, this construction is located in a place where the ocean quickly becomes agitated.
For this type of construction site, what type of ultrasonic wind vane anemometer should be used?
The CV7-V-USB ultrasonic wind sensor has a robust aluminium vertical arm. In addition, it is equipped with a terminal block with a standard USB 2.0 output. Thanks to its isolated voltage converter, the sensor is powered via the USB port. With dedicated software, it measures wind speed, wind angle and temperature. This is the ideal solution for nomadic measurements such as in new road construction.
