19 Jun Mantsbrite Donates LCJ CV3F to Vine Trust Medical Ship Forth Hope
Mantsbrite Marine Electronics will be donating an LCJ CV3F ultrasonic wind sensor to the Vine Trust for use on their latest medical vessel, the “MV Forth Hope” which was formally named by the patron of the Vine Trust HRH the Princess Royal back in May this year at Rosyth.
Forth Hope will be leaving Leith in Scotland mid-July and embarking on a 7000 mile voyage to Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon to deliver primary healthcare to some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
The 35m Forth Hope has been converted into a fully equipped medical ship with consultation rooms, laboratory, operating theatre, pharmacy and dental surgery. The Forth Hope is anticipated to provide up to 100,000 free consultations and treatments a year.
With a 7000 mile voyage and the environment of the Amazon to contend with it was essential that a robust and accurate wind speed and direction sensor be installed. As the LCJ CV3F is an ultrasonic wind sensor it has no moving parts to wear out and should provide many years of accurate, reliable trouble free service.
The LCJ CV3F will be presented by David Ash, managing director of Mantsbrite to Colin Anderson of Ships Electronic Services who will accept the ultrasonic wind sensor on behalf of the Vine Trust. Colin will be sailing with the Forth Hope on its epic voyage to the Amazon; we just hope he has his sea legs!
